GNUmed is packaged for many Linux distributions as well as MS Windows and Mac OSX. Here you can learn how to install or update GNUmed for your distribution.
Debian
- Debian Lenny, Squeeze, Sid and Experimental: Packages for the client and the server are available. Detailed instructions are provided here

Windows
- Windows XP has been tested extensively. Instructions to get the client and the server running are provided here
Ubuntu
- Gutsy, Hardy, or Intrepid: Packages for the Client and the server are available. See our Wiki for instructions.
Fedora
- Packages for the client and the server are available. Detailed instructions are provided here
Mandriva
- Spring 2008 (latest stable release) does not include it. Instructions to get the client and server running from a 3rd party repository are provided here
Live-CD
Mac OS X
This release is a beta-quality technology preview with known bugs and stability issues. We encourage you to test and report issues.
To install GNUmed on Mac OS X, you must have either 10.4 (Tiger) or 10.5 (Leopard) on the Intel platform (we do not plan on supporting PowerPC).

Development Version
The latest development version, updated as soon as developers commit any changes, is hosted in CVS. It is recommended only for developers and experienced testers. GNUmed can be checked out using CVS:
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.savannah.gnu.org:/sources/gnumed co gnumed
