In British Columbia, two large private labs provide downloadable HL7 message results. However, their data service provider's server-side certificate is not supported by default by Java, and that provider charges a license fee for a C# (C-sharp) script that is usable only under Windows.

As an interim, open-source solution for British Columbia, Firefox can access the messages and save the page in .xml file format onto the local desktop computer drive. That file can then be uploaded into Oscar via the Lab Upload command in the Admin menu.

In Ontario, the laboratories CML and MDS are supported and the next support should be with OLIS (Ontario Lab Information System) which is the central repository for ALL the Ontario lab data.
